Decisions made without community input often miss what matters most. Morten Group designs and conducts research processes that surface the voices, needs, and assets of the people you serve, so your strategies are grounded in real community experience.
Our approach is participatory and methodologically rigorous. We meet communities where they are, build trust across difference, and apply the right mix of qualitative and quantitative methods to generate insight you can actually use.
Community research with Morten Group can take many forms: needs assessments, program and organizational evaluations, focus groups, surveys, stakeholder interviews, and landscape analyses. We scope each project to your goals, your timeline, and the communities you're accountable to.
Data Collection and Analysis Philosophies
When conducting research or engaging in assessment processes,
Morten Group employs two major philosophies.
Participatory Action
We collect data through the dynamic engagement of a variety of individuals invested in the project process. This model helps us understand the opinions and experiences of a large number of people at multiple levels. Data collection tools are varied and tailored to fit the questions asked of project stakeholders.
Asset-Based Analysis
We focus on strengths and assets rather than weaknesses. Through this model, we lift up our client partners' positive qualities and promising practices, before exploring how we can leverage those strengths to address any organizational challenges revealed during the data collection and analysis process.
Past Research Projects
Morten Group has worked with organizations across the country to design and conduct participatory research that centers community voice and informs meaningful action.
